Mat Sadler is the first of the new signings.

The 26 year old left back joins us from Watford where he made 30 appearances since signing in 2008. After falling out of favour for the Hornets, he spent loan time at Stockport County and a season long loan at Shrewbury Town last season. He started his career at his hometown club Birmingham City in 2003 where he made 61 appearances and went on loan to Northampton Town.

‘He played in every minute of last season for Shrewsbury and comes here with plenty of higher level experience and a quality left foot….he understands the game well and will help those around him…at 26, he’s a good age and has his best years ahead of him.’ Smith told the official site.

‘Living locally, I know what this club is all about and there is no reason why we can’t get back to Championship level. The set-up is fantastic and everything is geared up for progression. I am excited to be part of that.’ Sadler added

The new addition seems like an excellent choice, a good age and lots of experience at a variety of levels. He looks promising!

Let’s see who else Dean Smith has on board ahead of Thursday, when preseason training begins.

Up The Saddlers!
