Walsall playmaker Romaine Sawyers has insisted despite flying to the Caribbean to compete in the Caribbean Cup – his heart and mind will still be in Walsall.
Sawyers is ready to compete in the Caribbeans version of the Euros for St Kitts and Nevis before joining the squad ahead of our League 1 match against Sheffield United on April 2nd.
Speaking to Express and Star, Sawyers said “The Caribbean Cup is the equivalent to the Euros. It`s the early stages of the tournament and that will lead to the Gold Cup when the bigger countries come into it.
“While some of the lads at Walsall are enjoying a bit of a break, I`ll be working. I`m looking forward to it but I think my mind is still here if I`m honest.
“No disrespect to my country but with the chance that we`ve got, for a club like Walsall, it`s a massive thing for everyone.
“I don`t think I can allow my head to drift away from that.”
