Reputable journalist Pete O’Rourke has confirmed we are set to announce the loan signing of former left back Scott Laird from Forest Green Rovers.

Laird will join the Saddlers until the end of the season where a deal could then be made permanent following the expiry of his contract with Forest Green.

Scott Laird is no stranger to Walsall fans having enjoyed a loan spell here in the 2016-17 season where he played thirty-two times scoring four goals.

At the end of his loan spell it was hoped Laird would return to the Saddlers however he joined Forest Green Rovers on a two year deal. Laird played over thirty times for the Greens last season but has found chances limited this season.

It is obvious with the imminent arrival of Laird that Keates sees the left full back position an issue – something we have known for two seasons.

We will keep you updated as this progresses.

One Reply to “Scott Laird Set To Return To Walsall?”

  • Luke Leahy should have been replaced a long time ago he is not a left back lately he seems to be more interested in pointing at other players instead of concentrating on his own job of defending. Seems to lack mental strength Another disappointing season after a great start
