The Saddlers marched into the Carabao Cup Second Round with ease last night following a 3-1 victory over Tranmere Rovers.

Goals from Morgan Ferrier, Josh Ginnelly and Zeli Ismail was enough to see the Saddlers into the next round of the cup since 2015/16 season.

The Saddlers were worth the admission fee alone. We had twenty-two shots at goal, the most we have had in a single game since 2014.

Tranmere made seven changes to their side from the weekend but this is a club with real cup pedigree and a manager with cup pedigree – let’s not take anything away from yet another fantastic performance from the Saddlers.

From the midfield general that is George Dobson, to the pace and trickery of our wingers and to the absolute beasts that are Andy Cook and Morgan Ferrier – this side has it all.

You can see all the goals from last nights victory below.

  • Just to put things into perspective, Tranmere played their reserve team against your first team and if you were being honest the first half was mostly Tranmere. In the second half after injuries and substitutions you took the game which is what we expected to happen. Ferrier was completely out of order and was to say the least quit disgusting with his attitude towards the home fans with absolutely no reason to be so whatsoever. As far as we are concerned you are welcome to him we prefer to have professional players not pathetic ones.

Enjoy this season, based on what we saw you may well struggle.

  • No tears here, only a true sense of reality based on many years football experience both good and bad. I assume you were at the match? If so be honest with yourself. If you were not at the match your are unable to comment. That my friend is fact. And yes you can keep Ferrier and his agents.

  • Nothing against Tranmere but its really irrelevant what we think Walsall won quite easily and thats that. You would also expect them to win against a team a league below them and just promoted from the Conference.

  • Nothing against Walsall but would expect Walsall to beat Tranmere’ s first team easily (after all its been 3 years non-league) rather than beat a newly promoted team with 7 changes only 3-1. Tranmere had a cup pedigree but that was over 10-20 years ago and surely highlights are Tranmere’ s otherwise don’t understand “fantastic performance” comment…. but yes Andy Cook is a beast..
