Former Walsall left back Mat Sadler reckons Shrewsbury Town could follow in his former clubs footsteps and push for a promotion challenge next season.
Sadler also believes that Shrewsbury have more ‘financial clout’ than Walsall when it comes to negotiating in the transfer window.
“We can look at other clubs in the division such as Walsall, who had a fantastic season but for a few years before that really struggled,” he said.
“We`ve probably got more financial clout than Walsall, so let`s hope we can fast-track that a bit because the manager is desperate to drive that forward. You see examples of ‘flash in the pan` – Yeovil managed to get themselves up (from League Two to the Championship), but look what`s happened since with two relegations.
“So if the club do things right, with gradual improvement – which they do – they could outlast that ‘flash in the pan` thing.”
