What a difference a month makes.

The Saddlers defeated Oldham Athletic 2-1 this evening to all but secure our League 2 status for next season.

Goals from Osadebe and Wilkinson was enough for the Saddlers to register our fourth successive home victory and stretched our unbeaten run to five.

We now find ourselves fifteen points clear of the drop and just two points off the top half. Just over a month ago relegation to the National League was a real possibility…step forward Michael Flynn.

Out went the 4-2-3-1 formation that Taylor wouldn’t budge from, in came 3-5-2. Osadebe and Shade as wing backs, Wilkinson and Miller upfront – do the basics and you win games in League 2. Simple.

Daniels and Monthe in defence, Labadie, Kinsella, Earring in midfield and Wilkinson and Miller upfront is good enough for a top seven finish. Flynn doesn’t need to tinker too much this summer. It seems the players Fullerton signed last summer were good enough, they were just used incorrectly.

Lets get this season over with and let’s really go for it next season….with a proven manager.
