Walsall boss Dean Smith has confirmed that preliminary talks have been held to discuss his new contract.
Smith (whose deal expires this summer) is hopeful that something can be sorted soon to distant himself from vacant positions.
Speaking to the Press Association – Smith said –
‘We’ve had preliminary talks and they’ll be on-going.
I’m happy here and enjoy it and hopefully we can sort something out soon.’
‘I know people laugh but I’ve always called us getting to the Championship the ‘improbable dream’ – the impossible dream is getting to the Premier League.’
‘The more I see of this group of players the more hope it gives me they can sustain what they’re doing at the moment.’
‘I’ve always said I want to be the fourth manager who takes us there.’
