Walsall boss praised his side…and the Yeovil pitch as the Saddlers grabbed their first victory against the Glovers in eight attempts.
Smith said; “We were excellent in the first half,” he said. “Some of our play was outstanding during the opening period and we should have been out of sight at the break.
“We knew it would be different in the second half and they had chances, but we got the three points in the end and that`s all that mattered.
“We had plenty of shots on target and kept a clean sheet, which was pleasing. It was one of those days where the ball didn`t go in the back of the net as often as it should, but it was a good performance on a fantastic surface.’
Walsall are now five points away from the League 1 play offs and seven points clear of the drop zone – middle of the road again.
