Walsall boss Dean Smith admitted last nights victory over Scunthorpe was one of the most pleasing and important results of the season so far.

Smith who also celebrated his 250th game in charge, said “That`s one of the most pleasing results of the season in terms of performance, discipline and doggedness.’

“Doggedness isn`t a word you`d usually associate with our team but we had to dig in tonight.’

“I knew it would be a tough game and they didn`t give us much time on the ball. But defensively we were very professional.’

“I`m really pleased to get the win in my 250th game. Hopefully, we can now get another win at the weekend.”

The Saddlers have now won four away games out of five and have conceded just two goals on their travels so far – we now turn our attentions to another important match against Wigan this weekend.
