Dean Smith has today praised Richard O’Donnell on last nights heroic display and also admitted we were fortunate to be drawing 0-0 at half-time.
Speaking to Expressandstar.com; Smith said ‘We were fortunate to go in at half-time with the score 0-0. We started well enough and had a couple of half chances but then they took over the game.
“They were more competitive than us, won a lot of ball and put a lot of balls into the box which we had to defend.
“Fortunately, Richard O`Donnell has made a couple of terrific saves and in the second half we showed what we are about, we competed better.”
‘Keeper O’Donnell produced one of the greatest saves I have seen from a Walsall ‘keeper to deny Beckford from point blank range midway through the first half. If you haven’t seen the save, do it!
O’Donnell is becoming one of Walsall’s greatest ‘keepers and the Saddlers will be hoping to tie him down to a longer deal in coming weeks.
