Walsall boss Dean Smith has today compared Saturday’s opponents Colchester United with that of his current side.
Speaking to Express and Star, Smith said:
“They are very similar to us in the way they have built the squad,”
‘They are steadily building something. They have pace on both sides so we will have to be at our best.’
“The chairman has backed their academy and they look to bring players through.’
“It`s a young squad full of energy and attacking intent. as the goal for column shows.’
“They have also sprinkled in that bit of experience with the likes of George Elokobi, Owen Garvan and Darren Ambrose.”
The U’s currently find themselves nine points behind second place Walsall and with Gillingham visiting the Banks’s Stadium next weekend, Smith will hope to still be in touch with the Kent club.
