Walsall Head coach felt side struggled first half but as game went on he felt only Walsall would win but got caught out in the last minute.

The Saddlers are now fourth in League 1 and with no win in their last three – find themselves as the most out of form side in the top six.

‘We struggled first half to get any rhythm.’

‘Early on we realised that Wigan’s game plan was to stop the fullbacks and get an extra man in midfield, so you’ve got to give them some credit.’

‘Our game plan all week was to do certain things, but that all went out the window rather quickly.’

‘We got a little bit frustrated with each other and ourselves.’

‘It was a bit like a chess match the first half, we cancelled each other out, though they were a little but better, a worldy goal got them in front.’

‘Second half we adjusted, came out and were more comfortable in what we were trying to do.’

‘We get a fantastic strike to get us back into it and you think momentum is with us now and we’ll go on and win it.’

‘Unfortunately we got caught in the last minute, but that’s football and it leaves you disappointed.’

‘They’re a really good team, it’s taken them time to settle, but they’ll give anyone a game.’
