Walsall’s new Gambian international winger Eddy Sonko has said he is excited to have a chance to impress as a Saddler.
The 27-year-old put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal today and is set to appear against Birmingham City tomorrow (KO 3pm).
Sonko told Walsall’s website that it has been his dream to move to England for along time.
He said: ‘I am enjoying it at Walsall; there are a talented group of players here with potential to do well.
‘I want to show my appreciation for the way that I have been welcomed by my team-mates and I am determined to work hard.’
Sonko, or ‘Mr Sunshine’ as he is called, started his career at Anderlecht before moving to Rodo and then a short spell in Greece last season.
He added: ‘I am looking forward to this new challenge here in England and am very grateful to Walsall for giving me the chance.’
