Sunday Saddler Supplement

After a long absence, I’m back and have been keeping in touch with all things Walsall.

With the ugly and dramatic protests, aided with the use of decorated table-cloths, the results seem to have picked up.

I predicted a 1-1 at Carlisle and that’s exactly what we got – did wonders for my ego! In all seriousness, OK they are mid table like yours truly, but with all the off the field unrest, credit where it’s due.

This may have something to do with contract end dates being on the horizon, but still it was a good result to take us into our final game at home to MK Dons.

I would also like to express my dissatisfaction at the club allowing Rhys Weston to have a trial with Motherwell. I understand his need to move nearer to his family – in that case don’t sign for Walsall and disrupt the team! Not exactly a good example to follow in your a young player, so points deducted for Hutch on that one.

Finally this week, I would like to express my sadness at seeing Paul Simpson sacked as manager of rivals Shrewsbury. He seems a good gaffer, but football can be a cruel game for some (Sir Ray).

Till next time, have a good bank hol!
