League Two’s match of the day try telling fans of Boston Wrexham, Macclesfield or Hartlepool that. However to Swindon and Saddlers fans The County ground is the place to be on saturday, and a sell out crowd agrees. The game is massive as Walsall try for there first league title in 47 years, it’s simple really a win is required. Swindon also need a point for promotion, defeat and it could be play off heart break for the Robbins. However events at Hartlepool and at NHS as MK Dons seek goals could change all that as the afternoon unfolds.

Swindon Town Team News:

It is all a bit smoke and mirrors coming out of the County Ground at the moment. The rumours surround fitness of Lee Peacock and centre half Ashley Westwood, whilst Barry Corr missed the Bristol Rovers game but could be brought back for the last roll of the dice. Otherwise I would expect very much same again for Swindon with Lee and Ashley making it

Player to watch: Lee Peacock

He has always proved to be a handful to Walsall defences, although he missed the game earlier in the season at Bescot where Christian Roberts was the thorn in our side. Lee hasn’t scored since the 3-2 win at Lincoln so Robbins fans could be forgiven for thinking that he is due a goal.

Walsall Team News:

Injury wise things seem to be easing as reports are circulating that Westwood has recovered from his shoulder injury and Ian Roper is also a suprise contender for a spot on the bench. Other injuries are easing but mystery surrounds Alan Picken, however Kevin Harper should return following a bout of illness.

Player to watch: Trevor Benjamin

He was known as a Donkey to many Swindon fans following his spell there last season, and too be honest he still is to some saddlers fans, however there is no doubting his positive contribution to Walsall’s promotion push…the question is can he get another crucial goal.

Match Facts & Stats

What has gone on before counts for nothing. Past records and form this season goes out of the window, it is all down to what happens on the day.
For the record the bookies can’t split us and Hartlepool for the title.

Ref Watch:

Mr Jones from Chester, his most telling contribution to Walsall history was to give that penalty in the 86th minute at Derby, Lee Bradburys strike looking like enough to keep us in the championship, how things turned from that point relegation on goal difference, perhaps fate is going to see us win something on goal difference??

Match Prediction:

Talk of titles, and with the Saddlers army in high spirits with Fancy dress and inflatables shows the mood amoungst the Walsall faithful. The bear facts are Swindon need the points more than we do and that desire could well carry them to all three points, if they don’t I dare say it would be because they have bottled it.
Our title hopes really lie in the hands of Bristol Rovers.
Swindon 2 Walsall 0…..but we are still going up.

Next Fixtures:

Tuesday seems to be the day for a civic reception and bus tour….but will there be a cup presentation, only time will tell.
