Mr M J Jones from Chester is the man in the middle. He has had quiet a season so far, he never forgets his cards, in fact he has managed to book someone in each of his 38 games so far this season. That is a grand total of 145 yellow cards and another 11 red thrown in for good measure.

Of course the recent history is dominated by his Sky TV performance in the Burnley v WBA game five yellows and a sending off which was never a sending off in a month of sundays, that is not forgeting the goal that was offside….perhaps thats why his got a shift in league two!!!

Walsall last came across Mr Jones in Wales, Swansea in fact. He was in charge of our Trophy game which ended 2-2 with 4 yellow cards on the night. Prior to that he was also the man in the middle for our 2-1 defeat at Oldham in December 2005. However from the Saddlers point of view he will be remebered for giving that penalty and sending off the Derby defender(Michael Johnson) as the Saddlers won there championship relegation batle at Pride park thanks to a 86min Lee Bradbury spot kick….pity it went all wrong after that. Perhaps this is another sign the bad times are over as things once again go full circle.

Swindon, and Mr Jones have not crossed paths for a long while in fact it was 12-04-2004. In the game at Luton where Swindon ran out 0-3 winners.

Lets see what Saturday brings I will except another 0-1 and 86th minute penalty. In fact that brings back memories of other dramatic last day penalties….who will ever forget, Don Given, Ron Green and the day we sent the Blades down!!!
