Speaking exclusively to the Express and Star, Walsall captain Andy Butler has urged out of contract stars Will Grigg and Febian Brandy to stay for at least one more year and also urged wanted man Jamie Paterson to stay as the club embark on a season of high hopes.

Butler who has recently pledged his future to the club signing his new contract said ‘Another year here is not going to hurt, if clubs want to buy them they will still want them next year. Hopefully, Will and Febian will see sense and the light and sign up’

“You always hope your top goalscorer and your top penalty winner will stay’

As a former Terrier himself, Butler has confirmed he has spoken to Jamie Paterson about his former club following Huddersfield’s rejected transfer bid for the rising star.

Butler said “I have spoken to him. It`s a different club to when I was there, the manager has changed and they are in the Championship now.

“Like Will and Febian, another year here is not going to hurt him, if people want to buy him now they will still want him next year’
