Having been strechered off in the final minutes of the Stockport game, after been studded in the head. It has become clear why the hospital visit was required.

Skipper and man of the match Michael Dobson was treated for a deep cut to the forehead which went down to the bone. The story has it that club doctor Dr Rogers deemed that it would be better stiched at hospital and the player to be observed due to the nature of the head injury. The wound was stiched requiring seven stiches he was let out in the early hours of the morning. There was no other injury and no concussion to complicate matters.

In the local evening mail Richard Money expressed hope that Dobson would be fot enough to play some part in the Hartlepool game. However comments by club physio Jon Whitney seem to indicate that whilst Michael is keen to get back into action that medical advice will mean at least three weeks out of the firing range. Possible missing Hartlepool,Lincoln and the Plymouth cup game. It would be touch and go to see if he made the Darlington game.

The injury will not prevent Michael from training it is purely a matter of protecting the wound, so fitness after his lay off will not be an issue. The concern is about another clash or even heading the ball may reopen the wound. The final word about when he plays will be with Dobbo but the club will not want to risk losing the player who already is playing with a broken hand for longer than required.

I wouldn’t rule out or Capptain fantastic becoming our own Bryan Robson, so perhaps Captain Marvel would be a better nickname.
