The Late Late Leahy Show Gives Saddlers Vital Three Points

|

Coventry born Luke Leahy scored two very late goals to give the Saddlers all three points in our local derby against Coventry City this afternoon.

Coventry took the lead after eighteen minutes as Thomas exploited the flat footed Walsall defence and Saddlers looked to be heading towards our sixth defeat in nine until Leahy stole the show.

Leahy was brave enough to nod a long ball by Roberts past the helpless Sky Blues keeper and then was brave enough to take the spot kick after Devlin was bundled down by Ogogo to send the Saddlers fans crazy with a few running on to the pitch in excitement…if there’s anything you want in a derby, it’s a last minute equaliser followed by a last minute winner!

Keates surprised many with his team selection and he went for a 3-4-3 formation with Kinsella and Osbourne in a midfield two – it didn’t really pay dividends and the Saddlers looked off the pace but credit to Deano he changed it and brought Josh Ginnelly and Zeli Ismail on which changed the game on its head.

The Saddlers next league game is against Bradford City, a side already looking likely to be relegated this season. Another three points will set us up nicely with the festive period just around the corner.

Coventry homeboy Luke Leahy has definitely given many of us confidence and a bit of motivation heading into a busy few weeks.
