Tranmere V Walsall

Walsall face a true test of their league one credentials tonight when they face top of the table Tranmere away at Prenton Park.
The fact is we go there full of confidence after our first win of the season at Millwall was followed up with a complete no show at home to Oldham which produced the shake up we really needed. Then consecutive wins at Hartlepool, Doncaster and at home to Huddersfield which all in all means we go into tonights game without fear.
However make no mistake if we don’t go into the game and produce our best form then we will get beaten, Tranmere are not top with out reason.

Vital Quotes:

Ronnie Moore has been taking up the atmosphere of Friday night football at Prenton Park and the club are expecting a large crowd tonight. Tranmere played a 4-5-1 formation in there win at Southend and Ronnie has talked about doing the same…or is that bluff.
After talk of contract disputes and contracts been cancelled the vibe from the Banks’s is very much positive and the guys seem up for the fight.

Tranmere Rovers Team News:

A change is likely in goal with Coyne been replace by Actenburg (sp) Another big miss is going to be Chris Greenacer who missed last saturdays game with a virus. Otherwise it seems as if it will be the same again for Rovers

Player to watch: Gareth Taylor

Scorer on saturdays win and the big man will be a threat in the air and how we cope with Mr Taylor may well be the key to our success on the night.

Walsall Team News:

Most likely the same as saturday as injured players are still out, whilst Ian Roper is struggling for form following a virus. Which is a pitty since his experiance and combative nature would have been just right to cope with Gareth Taylor.

Player to watch: Anthony Gerrard

A return to (almost) home for the young scouser and will be hoping to add to his first goal of the season.
Like Daniel Fox he is most likely to have a large number of friends and family in the stands to impress.

Match Facts & Stats

Whilst Tranmeres home form is less impressive than there away form it will be a tough test.
But lets hope of a repeat of our last visit where a rare away win was a brief highlight of a miserable relegation season.

Match Prediction:

4 wins on the bounce doesn’t happen very often, four away wins on the bounce even less often so the odds are against us. I would take the draw now if it was on offer.

Next Fixtures:

Another promotion challenger in Southend visit Walsall next saturday, although of course Freddie Eastwood is now a dingle.
