Trialists show promise

In what turned out to be the James Constable show a number of trialists also made there presence felt.

Saul Denney- Goalkeeper played last season for Burton Albion made his name in the cup tie against Man Utd. Halesowen didn’t really provide a stern test for him but what he did he did well, his distrubution was good and his kicking stayed on the field which is always a bonus.
My view worth a gamble age is on his side and he would push Clayton Ince this season for the first team shirt.

Hector Sam- Striker played last season for Port Vale but a broken leg robbed him of 90% of the season. Looked sluggish and off the pace last night. However this is only the start of the pre season and after such a long lay off it could be expected. However a good turn and shot against the bar showed he hasn’t lost his eye for goal. The fact Trinadad and Tobago had him on stand bye for the world cup despite his injury shows how highly he is thought of.

My view- a fully fit Hector Sam would give us something different, but can he be the player he was after his leg break.

Adam Proudlock-striker, over weight and over here, the ex wolves starlet is another in search of another chance, following a period of unfullfilled promise at Wolves, he moved to Sheffield Wednesday where disciplinary and off the field problems led to his dismissal, PFA intervention lead to a move on loan to Ipswich where he failed to pull any trees.
However despite the need for training a fully fit Adam Proudlock would provide a handful to a lot of divison two defences. Has he got the determination to save his career, who knows but if he has then I would back Richard Money to deal with his disciplinary side.

Nathan Stanton-Defender, he has played over 243 games for Scunthorpe and has just spent three days training with Rochdale. During this time he impressed the Rochdale boss who according to press reports is keen to follow up his interest. However despite his lack of height Rochdale seem to be looking at using him in the centre of defence. Last night he played full back and could well provide competition for the right back slot. Also allowing Pead to move to his favoured midfield role. Nathan Stanton’s pace could be useful and he would be guarenteed a start against Rochdale due to suspension problems.

Well we have some useful trialist and I would imagine there will be others we will have to wait and see what developes.
