Whilst some Saddlers fans may doubt his quality, there are no questions about the effort and commitment shown by Joe Edwards during last season. The former Yeovil Town man was a key component for Jon Whitney last season, and embodied the solid if unspectacular performances from the team as a whole. Edwards was deployed in a number of positions in different formations, including; right back, left back, left wing back and centre midfield.
With the recent addition of left-back Luke Leahy, Edwards should revert to his more natural positions of right-back or in the centre of midfield for the coming season and supporters will be hoping that he can build on what was a generally positive campaign for him personally.
And, Edwards has been speaking with the Official Walsall FC websiteabout the break and the return to action:
“It`s been a good break. I managed to get myself away to America for a couple of weeks and did a bit of travelling over there. It was nice to get away, relax my body and enjoy myself.’
“Pre-season is not far away now and I`m really excited.’
Hopefully Edwards will have some more new team-mates to become acquainted with when the Saddlers return for pre-season training!
