Vital Walsall On The Money As Gaffney Signs For The Saddlers From Salford

|

Walsall confirmed the season long loan signing of former Bristol Rovers striker Rory Gaffney at the weekend.

We at Vital Walsall rumoured the move in late July and yet again we were on the money – just call us ITK!

Gaffney played under Darrell Clarke at Bristol Rovers and was a target all summer as Clarke continued to look to bolster his attacking options.

Gaffney was in the stands on Saturday afternoon watching the Saddlers during our 3-1 home defeat to Grimsby Town.

The Irish striker enjoyed a succesful spell at Rovers scoring eight goals in twenty appearances in their League 2 campaign – including five goals in his first seven starts.

He scored another seven goals in League 1 but was snapped up by Salford last summer and went onto score twelve goals in the Conference.

Gaffney will add much needed strength up top and given the quiet start by Adebayo and Gordon you would imagine Gaffney will start upfront with Caolan Lavery.
