Lets get one thing straight, the ability to throw away a two goal lead with twelve minutes to go, can only fall at the feet of one person…

We cannot blame the referee, we cannot blame Jeff Bonser, we cannot blame Paul Merson and we cannot blame ITV Digital – Dean Smith is the man that cost us on Saturday.

Like so many times already this season (11, I recall) we have found ourselves squandering our lead which has been a common trait during his tenure as manager…

We made three changes from the side that lost 5-1 to Coventry last weekend. In came Ben Purkiss, Adam Chambers and Paul Downing out went the suspended Andy Butler, Richard Taundry and Nicky Featherstone.

William Grigg wasted the first real chance for us as he squandered a one on one with Marek Stech in the Yeovil goal.

Our first goal came on 13 minutes when BRANDY from far on the right fizzed in a deep cross that alluded everyone and ended up at Paterson’s feet, who neatly finished it into the bottom corner.

Our 2nd goal came from more brilliant play from BRANDY who danced passed a couple of Yeovil players before threading through Will Grigg who made up from his first half miss, to score our 2nd.

Less than a minute later and Yeovil were given a lifelife as former Saddler Reuben Reid slotted past an helpless Aaron McCarey…Smith got nervous and made his usual untimely and bizarre substitutions.

Dean Smith doesnt know how to make substitutions, he makes them for the sake of it. Take Saturday for example – Febian Brandy was the best player on the pitch by a country mile, yet our ‘manager’ decides to take the influential striker off and replace him with leading goalscorer George Bowerman who is out of sorts.

Following Dean Smith’s ‘materstroke’ we found ourselves in a too familiar situation – a last minute goal!

A free kick from James McAllister wasnt cleared and Sam Foley was on hand to snatch a point at the death for the visitors. Yeovil in all honestly didnt deserve anything from the afternoon but Walsall decided to be generous during the season of goodwill.

It is now 16 games without a win!
