It was back to Business as usual for the saddlers as they beat an in form Hereford side 0-1 thanks to Chris Westwood’s first goal of the season. That makes him the 15th different walsall player to hit the back of the net this season.

Despite other results going our way with Lincoln losing at home and Wycombe drawing at home to Grimsby, it was pleasing to see us concentration on our own house rather than looking over our shoulder.

DD brought in Wracky for Wrighty although a hamstring injury meant they swooped places again after 45 minutes. Kinsella returned to central midfield with Keates going wide and Fox moving to left back and Taylor dropping to the bench.

The score line was close and Hereford pushed hard after we scored. Also it could have been a diferent game if Sills diving header had hit the net instead of forcing a great save from Clayton Ince. In truth Walsall were strong and solid and well organised in the first half of few chances. It was the extra quality the saddlers had meant they were the more likely scorers. However it wasn’t until the 63 minute when man of the match Kinsella return his cleared corner back into the box for Westwood to head home. After that Walsall had chances to score, and sub Ishmel had a goal disallowed although the player later stated the ball hadn’t gone out of play.

In the end we are still under performing and as the manager and players have stated we are going through a bit of a rough spell, but we have won away and stretched our lead at the top to 6points, we are 7 points clear of fourth and a whole 14 points clear of 8th spot and the pack chasing the final play off spot. There is a long way to go just ask any Wycombe fan about there season last year, but most saddlers fans are pinching themselves, bring on Macclesfield in the cup and then another tough looking game against Notts County at Bescot on saturday.
