Walsall at NHS build up starts here

At the start of the season Sundays opponents were almost everyones favorites. In fact if the truth is known if they were ten points clear at the top now, nobody would have batted an eyelid. So why are they lying third fighting like everyone else.

The Squad MK Dons on paper have one of the best squads in the division. The recent departure of Butler still leaves them in a strong position against most if not all teams.

The strenght of the MK Dons team is upfront. In Izale Mcleod they have one if not the only million pound plus rated striker in the division. Although he does tend to go down a easy, when he smells the penalty box. In Clive Platt the ex walsall lad knows the division and is proven at League two. They have had prolific Scott Taylor although he has failed to live upto the billing and also Aaron Wilbraham a one time was target, a striker now playing in a midfield/wide position. If that was not enough one time Chelsea and Championship striker with pace to burn Leon Knight has also joined the ranks.

So perhaps it is midfield, we not really one time Walsall loanee Keith Andrews is joined by Lloyd Dyer both Championship players, they are joined by Gary Smith Jon Paul Mcgovern and other more than adaquate players.

So perhaps it is the defence, well of the three departments it is perhaps the area that causes MK Dons fans the most concern. However in Dean Lewington and Jamie Smith they have one if not two of the better full backs in league two. Whilst in the centre Drissa Dialloanother championship player is joined by Sean OHanlon a player well thought of at Swindon. These players have been joined by Jude Sterling from The Posh and who would rule out further deadline day deals.

The goalkeepers Aldofo Baines and Lee Harper are both capable at this level. Ex saddler Lee Harper got out of this division last season so he knows what it takes.

So no real weakness in the team pehaps its in the manager Martin Allen love him or hate him, I for one have a lot of time for his passion and how he deals with the home fans. He has as much pedigree than any manager in the division.

So is the problem in the team mentallity. Well inconsistancy is an issue 5-0 and 4-0 defeats at Rochdale and Posh prove that. But with so many Championship players desperate to ply there trade at a higher level I can’t imagine that anyone isn’t pulling there weight.

The only weakness I can see is a lack of knowledge of the division. If this is the case then class will rise to the top, after a slow start. It is now the time for that to happen. However with perhaps the toughest of run ins it has to start now. After Walsall and Herford they face, in form Grimsby at the NHS. Then play off chasing Shrewsbury and Darlington (away and home respectively). Before two away trips to Stockport and Wycombe, ending in what could be a crucial game for Accrington at the NHS. If they close out the season with automatic promotion they might well just deserve it.
