|

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke confirmed on Quest last night that he enquired about signing Wigan striker Callum Lang this summer before the striker opted to sign for Shrewsbury Town.

Lang impressed Clarke whilst on loan at Oldham Athletic last summer where he scored thirteen goals in their League 2 campaign.

The season before he scored ten goals for Morecambe in League 2.

The young striker has played twice for Wigan this season before moving to Shrewsbury on deadline day for the rest of the season.

Lang scored his first Shrewsbury goal during their 4-3 victory over Southend United on Tuesday.

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke also stated that whilst the club have had a higher turnover than any other club in the Football League he cannot continue to use it as an excuse and the team must now kick on.

On Tuesday the Saddlers grabbed our second win of the season thanks to a fourth minute goal from Stuart Sinclair.

The Saddlers now face struggling Scunthorpe hoping to claim back to back victories.
