Walsall change coaching set up

When Mark Kinsella left to join Charlton he left a hole in the coaching staff at Walsall so it seemed. DD put in place some temporary measures which have worked so well the plans have changed. It no longer looks like we will have a new coach in place this month.

Goalkeeping coach Eric McManus expanded his role to cover supervision of the reserve team. And the highly-respected McManus will continue in that role.

‘I am not looking to bring in another coach,’ Money said. ‘Eric has taken on more of the duties when we have reserve matches and he is more than capable of doing that.

‘When Mark left we thought we would see how it went for a month and it has gone very well.

‘I feel comfortable with what we have got here. Something special is happening at the club so why change it?’

So what will happen to the budget, will this be used on the playing side. One rumors doing the rounds on this matter is that we have been knocked back by an experienced midfield player who was going to do a player coach role. This combined with the emergence of Craig Pead in the center midfield role has changed priorities,DD doesn’t want to upset the team spirit. Fact or fiction who knows for sure.
