Walsall were set for a cash windfall from their Wembley exploits as the club confirmed a six figure sum had been raised, although the exact amount hasn’t been revealed.
The figure is estimated to be exceed £600,000 and Walsall secretary Dan Mole has today said it is unclear how the money will be spent.
Mole said ‘It’s certainly been a good fundraiser for the club.’
‘A decision is yet to be made on how the money will be spent.’
‘Wembley was a wonderful occasion and we will build from this.’
The club will receive around £500,000 from the gate receipts and £69,000 from prize money. The club will also receive TV money from their games against Sheffield United and Preston.
It is hoped that this money will be used to tie down Richard O’Donnell and Paul Downing on longer term contracts and also strengthen the squad for next season.
