Walsall have swooped to sign Lee Holmes on loan from Derby County. A player who was first linked with the Saddlers last season.

The 20-year-old has moved to The Banks’s Stadium until the end of the season, just as Paul Hall moves out to Wrexham.

‘When you consider that Lee was on the bench for Derby in the Premier League over Christmas, you will understand how grateful we are to (Derby boss) Paul Jewell for allowing us to have Lee at this time,’ said Saddlers boss Richard Money.

‘I am certain that he will be an exciting addition to the squad and be welcomed by our supporters

Lee has been given the squad number 16 and will go straight into the squad for the game tomorrow..

Lee Holmes made his debut for Derby on Boxing Day 2002 against Grimsby Town and broke the record for the youngest ever Derby player, aged 15 years and 267 days. He has spent time on loan tomorrows visitors Swindon Town and also Bradford City.

Holmes has played for England at Under-20 level, and he captained the under 19’s Welcome aboard Lee.

Lets hope a midfielder and another striker can be found.
