Walsall Keeper Joins Motherwell

|

Sky Sports Transfer Centre have revealed that Motherwell have signed Walsall goalkeeper Mark Gillespie on a two year deal.

Walsall have confirmed that they mutually agreed to terminate Mark Gillespies contract so he could move north of the border.

Gillespie was signed last summer from Carlisle as our number one goalkeeper but the performances of youngster Liam Roberts left Gillespies chances limited in the second half of the season.

Gillespe made one hundred and sixty-eight appearances for Carlisle and spent time on loan at Blyth Spartans.

It was hoped that his shot stopping abilities would stand the Saddlers in good stead however with the poor defence in front of him he was up against it from the start. He showed glimpses of what he could do but also had the odd error in him.

However we wish Gillespie the best of luck for the rest of his career.

The transfer of Gillespie will free up funds for Dean Keates to strengthen his side ahead of the new campaign.
