The sad state of affairs means that with the game a sellout and so much riding on it, the police presence is going to be massive, it’s usually OTT anyway!! This means that some of the pubs where we might have usually expected a warm welcome will be out of bounds. Due to this some fans will be seeking pubs further away from the County ground.

On the way into Swindon the Highwayman and the Hot air Balloon are popular choices, although they are approx 30 to 45 minutes out of Swindon on the A417/9 route.

Any Saddlers arriving by train could take the five minute walk into Fleet St. which is about 15 minutes walk from the ground and contains a load of decent pubs, including the usual chains and theme houses.

Near the ground pubs are thin on the ground. The County Hotel on County Road right next to the ground does a nice pint but is very much a home pub so saturday may not be the best day to attempt to pass the bouncers.

There is parking available further along County Road at the cricket club, which is the away bar of choice for many awy fans. However with saturday been so unique as I have said before things maybe different.

If you surive the infamous “Magic roundabout” you can go down Drove Road to The Merlin (formerly the Malt and Hops). This bar is also away friendly, but lets see what the police say on saturday

A reminder that should we lose we are still going up, I say we are going up….continue until your throat is sore and you have no voice left.
