Battling Stockport had to settle for a draw today, as Gray made it 2 goals in 2 games for the Saddlers.

Walsall was down to 10 men and 1-0 down on 19 minutes. Deeney handled in the area and was shown red before Ibehre put the penalty away for the bottom club.

The dismissal made it 4 sending offs in 6 games adding to a woeful discipline record. Deeney will now have to sit out his 3 match ban.

Saddlers just about broke even throughout the game with a strengthed midfield, owing to Mattis’s return from injury.

However, the visiting team were handed a lifeline just after the break, Manny Smith headed to Gray who scored from an awkward position on 47 minutes. The left midfielder broke a 2 year goal drought last week and it is now his second in as many games.

The second half brought fairly even play, with Stockport enjoying much of the possession. Saddlers were fairly tight, but the display was lacklustre in real chances. Stockport had some chances themselves, but did not produce the final finish.

Saddlers fans will be relieved not to have had three losses in three games, but drawing to a team stuck to the bottom of the table is just as disappointing.

We have only 2 days to wait for the next game, at home to Wycombe on Monday. They are also in a relegation fight, so all we can do is hope for a breakthrough!
