Walsall Set For Cash Windfall From Deeney Move?

|

I’m fed up of doing this story and getting everyone’s hopes up but this does have substance that Cardiff are set to bid £15’m for former Walsall striker Troy Deeney according to creditable journalist on Twitter, Alan Nixon.

In the exclusive he has written for The Sun suggests that Warnock wants to conclude the deal in the next twenty-four hours before an auction starts for Deeneys signature.

Deeney has been rumoured to be down the pecking order at Watford since the arrival of manager Javi Garcia.

The Saddlers are reported to have a 20% sell on clause for Deeney and will be set to receive £3m should the move materialise.

Now we understand that 50% goes back into the infrastructure of the club and we will be given the same line regarding instalments but the current regime won’t be able to hide behind the fact that there will be £1.5m in the coffers for Dean Keates to strengthen his side – failing that Jeff could clear the debt currently owed to him.

Both Everton and Newcastle were linked with a £25m bid for Deeney in 2015 and Leicester were linked in 2017 with a £30m bid for Deeney but that like every other move for Deeney didn’t materialise and the Saddlers have been playing the waiting game to cash in on their former striker since selling him in 2010.
