Sources in the North West are reporting that Walsall are set to beat Rotherham United to the loan signing of Preston Irish defender Andy Boyle.
Boyle – capped against Iceland last March – has started just 10 league games for Preston since joining from Dundalk just over a year ago.
Boyle has played for Ireland at every level possible and started his career at UCD before moving onto Shelbourne.
Boyle was vice captain of Dundalk as they made the qualifying rounds of the Champions League last season.
