Walsall Sign Prolific Striker From Tranmere Rovers

|

Walsall have this morning confirmed the signing of former Tranmere striker Andy Cook on a two-year deal.

Cook topped the Vanarama National Conference goalscoring charts in the past two years with twenty-seven goals this season and twenty-three goals the season before.

In his last four seasons, Cook has scored over twenty goals, totalling ninety-seven goals in just one hundred and forty-nine goals making him one of the most prolific strikers in England.

Cook started his career at Carlisle before moving on loan to Barrow in 2009. Cooks performances on loan at Barrow forced the club to sign him permanently in 2011 and he went on to score eighteen goals in sixteen games. Grimsby was his next port of call and he went on to score fourteen goals in nineteen games for the Mariners but after his contract expired he went back to Barrow and scored forty-seven goals in sixty-two games.

Tranmere identified him as the man to fire them back into the Football League and signed him in 2016. Cook went onto score twenty-three goals for Rovers in his first season and scored twenty-seven goals this term.
