Walsall Sign Talented Boreham Wood Striker

|

Walsall have today confirmed the signing of talented Boreham Wood striker Morgan Ferrier for an undisclosed fee.

The striker scored seven goals in fourteen games for The Wood last season which caught the attention of many Football League clubs.

Earlier this summer Morgans former representatives and Boreham Wood had a spat following news that Ferrier had handed in a transfer request.

Things allegedly took a dramatic, yet unwelcome, turn when manager Luke Garrard reportedly received an aggressive phone call on Sunday, July 15 from Ferrier’s new representatives who made it clear they would do whatever it took to break the terms of their client’s contract.

Further threats were then lodged where the individual in question was said to have warned Boreham Wood that non-compliance with his wishes would – as the club website stated – “open up a can of worms” and would result in investigations by “the football authorities about our football club, about our manager, and about our chairman”.

Boreham Wood labelled his former representatives as “bullies’ and released a statement saying that he had a £35,000 activation clause should anyone wish to buy the player.

Ferrier was linked with a move to Tranmere Rovers this summer but decided to stay with The Wood following lengthy negotiations.

Everyone at Vital Walsall welcomes Morgan to the club and we wish him the best of luck during his career.
