Walsall talk about Leeds

A lot of feathers have been ruffled with the going on at Elland Road. Whilst the dust may have started to settle some ill feeling seems to exist from fans of other teams not just a few Saddlers fans.

Well lets put the record straight, caught in the cross fire is the supporters of the Leeds club. Whilst many take the comments as a dig at the club they love and react as if some one had hit there favorite grandmother, the truth is quite different. Talking to many Saddlers fans and I suspect it is also true for many other fans. We have nothing but sympathy for the Leeds faithful, we feel sorry for them. However this feeling of sympathy doesn’t extend into the Leeds boardroom.

Whilst the Leeds fans feel the need to remove there shoes in protest, the board room wranglings and tricks have left a bad taste in the mouth of fans of other clubs. Especially those of clubs like Walsall who have took the stance that the club will honour any debt to it’s creditors, despite huge losses in the wake of the ITV Digital collapse. Many clubs have sacrifed success on the pitch, and took relegation as a consequence that had to be suffered whilst like ourselves a stable finiancial foundation was built. It is with these clubs that Leeds will find no support for there appeal against the 15 point penalty which many outside of Leeds view as fair.

However with the transfer ban lifted, long three year contracts and undisclosed transfer fees are now been paid. This has cause howls of anger from some fans. I also would not be suprised if some creditors are shaking there head in shock, since I know of more than one which as a company have experienced real financial difficulty due to the Bates rebuying of the club. Whilst this emotional response is understandable, in fact Leeds are doing nothing wrong and we should let them get on with it. If it is mis management, and unwise spending, then they know that the consequences would be,and the situation would be as equally daming to the club.

So I suppose the message is let it go, let Leeds rebuild the way they see fit, let us the smaller clubs enjoy the crowds they will bring to our grounds, and who knows if we take the three points we can enjoy that inner warm feeling. What has gone has gone, lessons have been learnt and it was the rules that were wrong not the club and the fans are as much victims as anyone else.
