Walsall To Face Tranmere In Carabao Cup First Round

|

Walsall will travel to Tranmere Rovers in the first round of the Carabao Cup following the draw made in Vietnam this morning.

Tranmere and Walsall have some beef this summer following Andy Cook and Josh Ginnelly moving to the Saddlers.

Tranmere have just returned to the Football League following a two year stint in non-league.

There is something special about Prenton Park on Cup nights and it will be a tasty encounter and something different to our usual trips to Brammall Lane or the City Ground.

The last time the Saddlers faced Tranmere at Prenton Park was in 2014 in the Johnstones Paint Trophy. The Saddlers went 2-0 down before half time but goals from Anthony Forde and Michael Cain saw the game go to penalties where the Saddlers were victorious winning 5-4.

Ties will be played week commencing 13th August.

All games will be settled by a penalty shoot out if scores are level after ninety minutes. The ABBA penalty shoot out has been removed.
