Walsall will travel to Prenton Park to face newly promoted Tranmere Rovers in a pre-season friendly – it was announced today.
The Saddlers will face Micky Mellons side on Saturday 27th July (kick off 3pm)
Tranmere won promotion from League 2 following their play-off win over Newport last weekend.
This is the second side we shall face in pre-season who were in League 2 last season (Notts County) as manager Darrell Clarke assesses his sides capability against League 2 opposition.
It will be interesting if former Saddlers winger Kieron Morris will be part of that Tranmere side and could even Andy Cook be back there by the time we face them?
I would imagine our annual pre-season games against Aston Villa or West Bromwich Albion will follow…
