Walsall Trialist Tomas Egert Free To Leave Burton

|

Walsall trialist Tomas Egert will not be offered a deal to stay with Burton Albion next season, Nigel Clough has confirmed.

Egert impressed Saddlers fans and Saddlers boss Dean Keates during our 2-0 won over Dutch giants Ajax last week and Clough has confirmed his budget just doesn’t allow him to keep Egert at the club.

Egert has played in every Burton friendly until last weekend and he’s now currently training with the Saddlers hoping to earn a permanent deal.

Speaking to Burton Mail Clough said,

“We just can’t afford to take him with those five defenders that we’ve got,” said Clough, making reference to senior players John Brayford, Jake Buxton, Ben Turner, Kyle McFadzean and Damien McCrory.”

“In an ideal world, you would love to be able to take him as cover, but that’s what he’d be.”

Keates has hinted at a behind doors friendly this week to run the rule over Egert along with fellow trialists Tom Brewitt, Christian Ngulu and Adam Mitchell.

With the season just twelve days away and with the Saddlers needing reinforcements you would hope at least two of these trialists are signed up to bolster the defence.
