We welcome current Premier League Champions to the Banks’s Stadium hoping to follow in fellow League 1 side Bradford by knocking Chelsea out of a major cup competition.

Vital Quotes:

Smith – ‘Chelsea are the holders of this cup and the Premier League champions. But they got knocked out of the FA Cup last season by Bradford at home.’

‘That is the beauty of football and why cup ties capture the imagination because shocks can happen. We are hoping that we can go and get one now.’

Mourinho ‘I want to go match after match,” said the Portuguese, whose side beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in last season`s final.

“Walsall is a cup game, a cup that we won and a cup that we don`t want to throw away. We want to try to win. Wednesday is one more difficult match.”

Walsall Team News:

Walsall should have a full strength side to choose from. It remains to be seen whether Smith plays leading scorer Tom Bradshaw who limped off during Saturday’s draw with Peterborough.

Player to watch: Milan Lalkovic

It will be Milan’s night. He loves playing against the bigger sides under the floodlights and there is no bigger game for Milan than against the club which gave him his start in football.

Chelsea Team News:

The FA will decide today when Diego Costa’s three match ban will start, although he was not expected to be more than a sub tomorrow evening.

Mourinho has confirmed that former England skipper John Terry and Colombian striker Radamal Falcao will start.

Kennedy, Rahmann and Loftus-Cheek are also in the frame to start.

Player to watch: John Terry

All eyes will be on former England skipper John Terry as he tries to convince Mourinho that he still has a role to play for Chelsea.

Terry has been criticised recently regarding his displays, with many suggesting hes past his best.

Match Facts & Stats

Match facts and stats go out the window with cup ties like this although the Saddlers have lost their last seven against Chelsea.

Our one and only victory against Chelsea came in 1963 where the Saddlers won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Ref Watch:

Lee Mason will be in the man in the middle.

Mason last officiated a Walsall match in 2007 where the Saddlers lost 3-1 to Hartlepool.

Mason has been widely criticised during his career most notably allowing Niko Zigic to score against Manchester United when Lee Bowyer had blatantly handballed it.

Mason has officiated just four games this season but has dished out eighteen yellow cards – eight of which came in one match. He has also awarded two penalties in the four games.

Match Prediction:

Anyone who suggests anything other than a Chelsea win must be off their heads…..2-1 Walsall – Lalkovic and Bradshaw.
