A few days later and this tie looks increasingly difficult. We have found ourselves losing 4-1 and 2-0 at home, to Scunthorpe and Swindon respectively whilst Lincoln have beaten Braintree 3-0 and Barrow 2-1.

Unfortunately this has Giant Killing written all over it!

Also make note of the attendance tomorrow night as I envisage a sub 2,000 – making it one of, if not our lowest attendances in the past 15 years.

Vital Quotes:

Walsall skipper Andy Butler said ‘An FA Cup run is massively important to us. The incentive is there for us to beat Lincoln with another home tie against non-League opposition in the next round, but first of all we have concentrate on the challenge that Lincoln will present to us.

Walsall Team News:

Walsall will continue to monitor the fitness of Andy Taylor, Flo Cuvelier and Ben Purkiss – although I cant see any of the trio playing against Lincoln tomorrow.

Striker Will Grigg will miss tomorrows game as he has been called into the Northen Ireland squad to face Azerbaijan in their crucial World Cup Qualifier.

Player to watch: Mal Benning

Considering half our squad have been playing like they couldnt care recently, I will pick Mal Benning as the man to watch. The young left back made an impressive debut on Saturday and looks to have a bright future.

Lincoln City Team News:

Lincoln have no fresh injury problems however duo Rob Duffy and Conner Robinson are out (both ankle injuries), as is midfielder Peter Bore (thigh)

Player to watch: Jamie Taylor

The man that scored Lincoln’s goal against us scored another goal in the last two games to make it 10 for the season. He was a real handful in the first game and Butler/Holden will have their work cut out again tomorrow.

Match Facts & Stats

Lincoln are currently 8 games unbeaten and Walsall are winless in 11 so it makes for an exciting cup tie.
Luckily for Walsall league form goes out the window.

Match Prediction:

My heart says a 2-0 Walsall win but my head says we will lose on penalties. I just hope for a passage to the 2nd Round and hopefully a win against Mansfield or Slough, then a lucrative tie in 3rd Round to give us some joy from this season!
