Midfielder Martin Devaney has become the Saddler’s second loan signing in as many days, as he joins up with the team from Barnsley.

The 30 year old right winger looks to help Walsall out of their current predicament, whilst notching up some first team games himself.

After joining from Cheltenham for the start of the 2005/2006 season, he has enjoyed a reasonably successful time in South Yorkshire scoring 18 goals in 172 appearances. However, injury has hampered his progression in the side and was let out on loan to MK Dons last season. He arrives at the Banks’s on an initial one month loan.

Devaney told the Saddler official site: ‘Hopefully I can play my part in bringing about a change of luck for the club and improve things…I am looking forward to getting to know the lads. From what I have seen so far they appear lively and positive.’

‘I’d describe myself as a tricky and quick player who has a will-to-win.’ He added.

Chris Hutchings, who has made strides this week to improve the side ahead of Saturday’s clash, added to the official site: ‘He is another player who has performed well at a higher level over the years and I am looking forward to working with him.’

What do you think of our second instalment this week? Only time will tell when we see him on the field on Saturday. Before then, comment in the forum!
