Daniel Fox today hit Walsall with a written transfer request in another hammer blow to DD and a major concern on top of Sweeneys departure to Leeds.

The Express and Star reported that DD was rocked this morning when Fox submitted a transfer request in writing, putting Leeds in pole position to land the 21-year-old full-back.

Leeds are hoping to prise away Fox before January is out, having already had a bid worth more than £250,000 turned down by Walsall.

Many Saddlers fans will be disappointed to see Foxy go. However most fans would agree to let him go if the price was right. It has to be remembered that Fox started the season as second choice behind Paul Boetien at left back and it was only the injury to Paul that let him back into the left back slot, a chance which he has grabbed with both hands. With Paul nearly ready to return Fox’s departure would not be unrecoverable. However the loss of Sweeney and Fox, our whole left hand side is a major blow losing one or the other wouldn’t be an issue.

So how much is he worth, our poll says over the 250k we have already turned down, whilst local radio station says he should be worth 750k, in truth we will have to waitand see, DD has stated that he is willing to wait until the summer and go to tribunal, in truth it now seems likely that he will leave in January.

So how do we spend the money, hopefully it will go back ito the team. I would like to see Ricketts signed up if possible and another experienced striker as back up. Perhaps a couple of loan players are also needed…….how far will the budget stretch.
