Walsall’s new sponsors

The club are after two major sponsorship deals, one is for the advertising space which would be created on the rear of the proposed new stand at the away end. The stand which has already got planning permission would be an exact copy of the Floors to go stand.

The second deal is for the shirt sponsor. Roy Whalley has stated that the deals have been helped by our success on the pitch and I am sure the extra media coverage a successful team gets helps.

No names have been mentioned and there are various rumours doing the rounds, especially concerning the shirt deal, and whether it is just a change of brand rather than Bank’s and some are wondering if it could be Marstons, or even Homeserve or possibly Ramada the hotel group who the club joined forces with to build the hotel.

However the stand sponsorship has been more troublesome than expected. The advertising space would have been as big as the one displayed at the Dunlop Fort in Birmingham, which incidently will not be in use now it has been converted to shops so I understand. To take this over it will need to be a major company to pay the near 2 million which such a site is worth, an amount which would cover the estimated cost of the building. The rumour mill has put forward a number of brewing companies, who would only deal with the club once our existing deal with Bank’s had expired. The other rumour is an extension of our deal with Banks.

I supose we will just have to wait and see.
