The Saddlers boss believes his squad is lacking a physical presence in the centre of midfield and is targeting a tall, strong figure to plug the gap.

The recruitment of midfield reinforcements is some way down Money’s list of priorities, with an experienced goalkeeper still his top target following the departure of Andy Oakes at the end of the season.

‘I would like to bring in a tall, stronger midfield player because I think you need one in the division we’re going into,’ said Money. ‘You need to be strong in midfield but you also need to be able to defend set pieces.

‘Some extra height in the team should help us to defend set pieces maybe a little bit better than the team did last season.’

So while Pablo Mills would fit the bill as a physical presence in midfield and been a young energetic player, his lack of midfield expertise may count against him, so with Bradford City interested in signing him as a central defensive player, t
he chances are we will be looking elsewhere.

The Roberto Martinez rumour took another twist with Swansea releasing the spanish play maker. However at 33 this month he doesn’t fit the bill as described by Richard Money. Although he is proven league two player and could do a job for us.

As for the goal keeper position we have spoken to a number of keepers, but are been selective on who we want according to Dickie, so watch this space.
