The local papers have been full of speculation on who is going to to step into Mark Kinsella’s shoes. Some old faces seem to be at the fore with Halesowen manager Martin O’Connor popular with some fans, whilst a return for Frank Barlow who jumped ship having seen Merson in action was well liked by the players during his time at Bescot.

Perhaps the name on the top of most Saddlers fans Christmas wish list would be David Kelly who is out in the cold following the changes at Preston. However whilst his return would be a major coup for the club. It is hard to see him drop to league two despite his close links with the club. Ned is more likely to find a high profile position or even a chance to manage at a lower level in his own right.

Finances will also play a major part. Craig Shakesphere has also been put forward. It is fact that he has done a great job at WBA even taking charge of the first team for a whole one match, but in truth he is probably better looked after at the WBA than the Bescot Coffers would allow.

In last nights Radio interview DD says that there is nobody coming in in the short term, since he doesn’t want to upset the balance morale and team spirit that he has built this season. It could also be that he is actually hoping to entice an exerienced midfielder to Bescot with the Player /coach role which would also allow him to pay a little bit more than he could for a player or a coach individually.

I feel there is going to be a few twists and turns in this story.
