Walsall’s Ricketts outbreak

Micheal Ricketts, the ex Walsall striker has been rumoured to be returning to Walsall on many fans forums. However despite been linked with him before his move to Preston, manager Dickie Dosh has stated in the press that no contact has been made with the player.

Ricketts lost the support of the Saddlers fans when he announced that he was too good for the club and was off. That was in hindsight right as his goals for new club Bolton gained them top flight status and himself that single England cap. What was wrong was the timming of the statement, in the middle of a relegation battle which in the end set us out of the Championship.

Since then Micheal’s career has never reached the heights his supporters had hoped for. He hit rock bottom last season as an over weight and ill disciplined Ricketts was booted out of Roots hall. The Southend striker then found a diet book and some form at Preston, but not enough to earn himself a contract. So once again he finds his career in the last chance saloon, with a return to his Birmingham roots looking less likely. All this isn’t helped by an agent who sees pounds signs rather than his players needs as priority, or is that really Micheals problem!
