Of our rivals Swindon seem to have the toughest Christmas especially comming off the back of the defeat at the silkmen today. Wycombe and Notts county will give them a run for there money but Swindon are good enough to pick up four points out of those games but I see a New Years day defeat at MK Dons.

MK Dons could well make a move towards the top aswins at Torquay and Chester are likely as they seem to have found some form, that would give them 9 more points.

Lincoln however have a local derby against Boston which are games hard to call especially since Boston have picked up form recently (4 games unbeaten) but I see the Imps comming out victor’s. You would expect at least 4 points out of Wycombe at home and Macclesfield away. Total 7 points.

Wycombe with one eye on a cup tie with Chelsea will be unbeaten but away draws and a home win against Hereford may see them lose ground.

Of course Peterborough and Hartlepool are also in the shake up and these two collide on the 30th. It is quite possible that the divisions form team Hartlepool come out with a festive clean sweep.

So what would this mean to the Saddlers, in truth six points will be required to keep top spot. However this could see the gap between us and fourth stretch to eight points, however two wins and a draw is more likely.
This would leave the table as
Walsall 56pts
MK Dons 54pts
Lincoln 51pts
Swindon 47pts
Wycombe 46pts
Hartlepool 46pts
Peterborough 42pts

However we all know football isn’t that easy to predict, so no matter what it is all to play for and lets see what the table actually looks like come January.
